Windows Hello appear inconsistently

I want Windows Hello to appear every time I try to log into or use 1Password, whether it is the app in the task bar, the website, or the browser extension. Anything that could provide access to my vaults. I have been unable to make this happen, even after setting the auto lock to 2 minutes. Also the task bar app requires me to manually lock to have windows hello appear at next use. It doesn't auto lock. Please provide info as to how to make Windows Hello appear any time I want to open 1 password.

1Password can only prompt for Windows Hello during unlock, and not for each individual use. Unlocking either the desktop app or the browser extension will automatically unlock the other due to the connection between the two. Once 1Password is unlocked, you won't be prompted for Windows Hello again when using the app or the extension, until the next time it locks.

It's also worth noting that the auto-lock timer is based on the entire device being idle. If the app isn't locking itself automatically when it should be, I would recommend making sure you don't have any software or hardware periodically resetting the system idle timer.

To achieve behaviour closer to what you're looking for, where Windows Hello is required with each use, your best bet would be to manually lock 1Password whenever you finish using it. You can do this in a few different ways:

    • Press Ctrl + Shift + L while the 1Password desktop app or your browser is open and focused.
    • Right click the 1Password icon in your browser toolbar or Windows system tray and choose Lock.
    • Click ⋮ > Lock 1Password from the top left of the desktop app window.

I hope this clarifies things, but if you have any further questions, let me know!
