1Password extension unusable in Safari on Mac
Running Tahoe 26.3.1 on my MacBook Air with 1Password for Mac 8.12.8 installed and filling in logins on websites in Safari is absolutely atrocious. It seems to work about 10% of the time.
When I attempt to fill login forms, I will click the extension icon in Safari and it will either not load, load a broken box, or take 25 seconds to load.
WHAT IS GOING ON?!
I have perused the community and tried all the "solutions." I have uninstalled the extension and reinstalled it dozens of times.
I switched to 1Password because it was bulletproof. But now it is the least reliable item in my stack. The downfall of this app should be studied. Just absolutely sad.

Hello FCNV! 👋
I’ve edited your post to remove some profanity. When you have a moment, please review our Community Guidelines to help keep the discussion respectful for everyone.
I’m really sorry that 1Password for Safari hasn’t been working reliably for you, that’s definitely not the experience we want you to have. While our development team is currently investigating a few issues related to Safari, I’m not aware of a specific issue that would cause filling to work only about 10% of the time. To help us take a closer look, could you first confirm that you’re able to reproduce the issue on the latest version of 1Password for Safari (8.12.8)? If so, I’d really appreciate it if you could create and share a diagnostics report from 1Password in your browser so we can dig into what’s going on:
Send a diagnostics report (browser extension)
Attach the diagnostics to an email message addressed to support@1password.com
With your email please include:
- A link to this thread: https://www.1password.community/discussions/lounge/1password-extension-unusable-in-safari-on-mac/168868
- Your forum username: FCNV
You should receive an automated reply with a Support ID number. Please post that number here. Thanks very much!-Dave

First of all, my original post did not contain "profanity," nor did it violate anything in the community guidelines.
Secondly, I find your gaslighting and condenscation to be disrespectful, as a longtime paying customer.
There are DOZENS of threads about this very issue across Reddit and your own community. Pretending nothing is wrong, and that I am an isolated anomoly, is exactly what I talked about when I said 1Password's downfall should be studied.
I'll send the diagnostic report, but I would appreciate 1Password not pretending like it's the first time they've heard of this issue.

Thank you for your reply. I’m sorry that my post came across as condescending, that wasn’t my intention. If you’d like to discuss our community guidelines further, or appeal a moderation action, you’re welcome to email us at community@1Password.com
We’re aware of certain autofill issues in 1Password for Safari and our development team is actively investigating those issues. A diagnostics report will help us confirm whether you’re experiencing one of these known issues, and provide workarounds for a specific known issue, or something new. Once you’ve sent one in, we’ll be happy to take a closer look.

The company has been pretending this problem hasn't existed for years. Time to switch for me. So disappointing considering most other parts of the password manager are really good

I'm sorry that you’re running into issues as well. Could you share a bit more detail about what you’re currently seeing on your end? I want to make sure we have an accurate bug report, for the specific issue that you're seeing, filed with our development team and include your experience too.

Sure, every part of the extension on safari is just horrible, a lot of the time it takes 10+ seconds to load or completely doesn't load and doesn't even let you enter your password, instead saying "1Password needs to restart" or something along those lines. If I turn off connecting to the desktop app (as instructed by your support team to improve reliability) it takes a consistent 3+ seconds to unlock with touch ID for some reason, whereas the desktop app is pretty much instant. Furthermore, when a website requests to use a passkey, half the time the Apple popup will show up and the other half is the 1Password popup showing up. There's many other smaller things I've experienced but the general gist is that the extension is slow, buggy, and unreliable.
The slow/broken unlocking process is the most painful part, once it's unlocked it usually works pretty well but it is so so frustrating this has been going on for 2-3 years now. I have posted/emailed diagnostics so many times now for bug reports, with no fixes made. So now I've given up and have cancelled the subscription.
