Summary Please add a built-in way to display who originally created or contributed an item to a shared vault in 1Password Family. Problem In shared family vaults, it is currently not possible to see who an item originally belongs to once it has been shared. This makes it unclear who owns a specific account, even though the item is visible to everyone in the family. As a workaround, we manually add tags with the name of the person who created or contributed the item. This allows sorting and filtering by owner, but it is manual, error-prone, and easy to forget. Proposed Feature Display non-editable metadata such as: “Contributed by: Name” or “Original owner: Name” This information should remain visible in the item details after sharing or moving an item into a shared family vault. Benefit This makes it easy to understand who an account actually belongs to, even when it is shared for convenience. It improves clarity in family vaults, avoids confusion, and removes the need for manual tagging. Reference Apple Passwords already shows this information for shared items using labels like “Contributed by: Name”, which provides clear ownership at a glance.31Views3likes3Comments👉 Please allow permanent sort by Title in 1Password for Windows
Hello 1Password team, since a few updates on 1Password for Windows, the sort order (for example "Title") is no longer remembered when switching categories or after restarting the app. This makes it cumbersome to work with large vaults, because I always have to re-set "Sort by Title" every time I open the app or change the view. It would be very helpful to have: - either a global default sort option (e.g. always by Title), - or that 1Password simply remembers the last chosen sort order reliably. Is this planned, or could you please consider adding it? Thank you!Solved181Views2likes12CommentsMedical and RX ID Cards
It would be real nice if 1Password could store Medical and Prescription ID Card details. I did a search and it was recommended to use the Medical record, but that is more for hospital and medication records. It doesn't align with anything for your ID cards. Almost like it would be better to do a regular note record instead. I've seen some other records that most people (for family) will never use (Database). But most everyone has a medical ID and prescription card. How to recommend/suggest a new record type?229Views2likes4CommentsSecure Notes Problem
Hello I have a problem editing and displaying secure notes which I think is a "known", but unacceptable, problem with 1Password. I have sent the request below to the support team and I will let you know how I get on but if anyone has similar problems, or even a solution, I'd really like to know. Many thanks, Q Hello I have recently migrated from LastPass and I'm glad I did, however... I am hitting a problem editing and displaying secure notes, the application is stated as being Markdown friendly and I use either Markdown or plain text, nothing fancy so there should not be a problem. If I put some text into a secure note it MAY OR MAY NOT display properly. Frequently a note will appear truncated, but not consistently. I am using 1PWD on macOS Tahoe 26.2 and an iPhone 16 Pro Max running iOS 26.1 so nothing ancient and there really shouldn't be a problem displaying simple .md or .txt material, but there is. I believe from the 1PWD Community postings that this is a "known" issue and if this is the case please advise me when it is going to be resolved because as it stands the application does not do what it says it will or what it should do. To be able to properly and reliably display simple text files is a core function.23Views1like1CommentEmergency access - people I trust that may ask to access my account in case of an emergency
Similar to how Proton does it, I would like an option for a 1Password Family member to take over another account in the family if this other account does not respond to this request within N days. Of course, this member of the family must have the other added to this list of approved accounts that can take over his account.53Views1like3CommentsWhy Do Copies of Logins Appear in Archive?
A member of my family (call them Andrea) who has a personal 1Password license forgot their main 1Password password for that account but could still authorize using biometrics. As a result of not knowing their password they could neither create new login items nor update existing ones. Per the 1Password support area, I added them to my family account and copied Andrea's items from their Private vault on the old personal license using copy and paste into their Private vault attached to the family account. I also moved all items that my partner (call them Peter) and I shared from the Shared vault attached to the family account to a new vault that was limited to the two of us. After taking these steps, the items that had been archived from the Family Shared vault were still in the archive, visible to all users when you clicked on the button that says View Archived Items; all the items from the Private vault from the former (Andrea's) personal account were visible to that formerly personal user (Andrea). My primary question is: why are all the old passwords from the personal vault appearing in Andrea's archive? My second question is: How can I hide the archived items from the Shared vault that were formerly visible to me and Peter and are now visible to Andrea as well? Do I just have to delete them??24Views1like1CommentWhat happens to a shared vault if the person who shared it stops sharing?
What happens to a vault of items being shared between two people if the vault's owner should suddenly stop using 1Password for Families? (in the case of stroke, death, cognitive decline, switch to a competitor, change from family to personal plan, etc.) What if the owner or their heirs don't know how or want to continue with 1Password after payments cease? If the owner or its heirs decide to close out the 1Password account and request data to be removed, are other vault participants notified with an advance directive? I tried searching the forum for the answer, but didn't find what I was looking for. Sorry to be macabre, but I'm always thinking about contingency plans, rights of survivorship, digital legacy, etc. As a real-world scenario example, I share a vault with a friend for the purposes of managing a shared project. My friend owns the vault and has shared it with me from their 1Password for Families account. I'm wondering what is the protocol for retaining or taking ownership of the items in that shared vault should my friend no longer be able to administrate their family account?Solved141Views1like3Comments
