vault management
184 TopicsWhat is 1Password doing to simplify user access for companies using many vaults?
We follow role-based access, like many other companies would for providing the right and lowest amount of access to their users as their role requires. In order to do this with 1Password for appropriate credential sharing, we have to setup many vaults per each of our customers, as well as our own environments/projects. With us currently sitting at around 78 vaults, the UI, search and overall functionality is really starting to show a lack of scalability for the business. Sharing feature is not feasible due to expiration (nor would it be even if expiration wasn't there for the sheer point of manual process this requires) Duplicating passwords makes everything worse as credentials do not sync back to the original item. My questions are, What is 1Password doing about this? Is it something you are currently aware is an issue and working towards a solution? If you are aware, what is the priority? Do you have a timeline for any improvements? As there is no solution, either other companies are in the same boat as me or simply setting up less vaults and accepting the security risk that people get access to credentials not required for their roles.157Views1like9CommentsAvoiding Personal-Business Use Mixups
I currently have a 1Password family account, with multiple vaults, including one for the nonprofit I lead. Now I'd like my Board of Directors to use 1Password as well. However, I'm concerned about mixups and wonder if I'm better off with a different arrangement (e.g. a different password manager for business use). My question is, how does one actually shift between personal 1Password use to business use and back again on the same device(s)? Is it like opening different vaults? Or will I need to log in and out of each separate account? Or what? Thanks!20Views0likes4CommentsWhy Do Copies of Logins Appear in Archive?
A member of my family (call them Andrea) who has a personal 1Password license forgot their main 1Password password for that account but could still authorize using biometrics. As a result of not knowing their password they could neither create new login items nor update existing ones. Per the 1Password support area, I added them to my family account and copied Andrea's items from their Private vault on the old personal license using copy and paste into their Private vault attached to the family account. I also moved all items that my partner (call them Peter) and I shared from the Shared vault attached to the family account to a new vault that was limited to the two of us. After taking these steps, the items that had been archived from the Family Shared vault were still in the archive, visible to all users when you clicked on the button that says View Archived Items; all the items from the Private vault from the former (Andrea's) personal account were visible to that formerly personal user (Andrea). My primary question is: why are all the old passwords from the personal vault appearing in Andrea's archive? My second question is: How can I hide the archived items from the Shared vault that were formerly visible to me and Peter and are now visible to Andrea as well? Do I just have to delete them??6Views0likes0CommentsDomain block/allow listing
This has been requested many times by other users, but I'm not sure if any detailed feature requests were made. The current "hide on this page" right-click option is nowhere near sufficient. Users with many different uses cases, both personal and work-related, need to block entire domains from 1password extension features. "Hide on this page" is not sufficient. 1) it is limited to the right-click context menu, which some web applications hijack. 2) it is limited to specific pages, which can be useless in a deep application navigation state. 3) as far as I can tell, there is no way to view or manually edit the list of blocked pages - the settings menu only provides a button for clearing it. At minimum, block autofill and save-suggestions using a domain list which can be added to using a button from the extension menu AND edited manually. User should be able to paste in a list of domains into a text field to quickly configure the blocklist User should be able to add the current domain or page to the blocklist from the extension menu, instead of or in addition to the right-click context menu Blocklist should support at least simple wildcard matching system, eg: *.community* 1password.community 1password.community/category/discuss/* Extended features could include: an allowlist mode toggle that switches to only allowing 1password to work on specific domains example: user sets app to allowlist mode and allows only work-related sites, avoiding saving personal information in work vaults if they visit non-work sites separately configuring features on each site, implemented as having individual block/allowlists for each feature example: on a web application where you enter customer data, maybe you allow filling credentials but block suggesting or saving form information to avoid capturing customer data4Views0likes0CommentsVault sharing - unexpected behavior
I'm experiencing inconsistent behavior when attempting to archive vaults by removing my access. Here are the specific issues: Primary Issue When I remove myself from vault access to archive them, the results are inconsistent: One vault: Successfully removed from my profile (expected behavior) Another vault: Still appears in my vault list despite removing myself Sharing Status Inconsistencies Several vaults display the "shared with" people icon with unexpected tooltip information: "Shared with 0" vaults These should not appear in my vault list since I removed everyone, including myself They continue to be visible "Shared with 1" vaults Tooltip shows only myself as having access Unclear why these are marked as "shared" if I'm the only user Note: All vaults displaying the sharing icon were previously shared with another account. Additional Anomaly In the vault summary view (no item selected), I see: Shared access includes myself A "Recovery" account that does not exist in my organization Expected Behavior Vaults without the "shared with" icon appear to function correctly. Environment: Primarily experiencing this in the web interface Could you help clarify the expected behavior for vault archival and investigate why these sharing statuses are displaying incorrectly?11Views0likes2CommentsRed Cloud/sync issue
Hello, I have the red crossed out cloud icon, click it and see 'Some changes could not be synced with your devices' - if I view offline items, there are none. Using windows App. Can open vault on web with same machine, items created in app sync up and items created in cloud sync down. Not sure if it's a bug or I am having an issue, any advice on how to resolve?35Views0likes2CommentsLimited Functionality with Masked Emails
I was really excited to connect my Fastmail account with 1Password in order to utilize their masked email functionality. Unfortunately it is extremely difficult to easily add masked emails to pre-existing logins as well as anywhere other than the pop-up provided (whenever it does decide to show up). In addition to that difficulty, if any additional account is created on a website that already has a saved login (to my knowledge) you do not get the same easy "create a masked email" button as you would if there were no saved logins pre-existing. There is a couple of features that would make this masked email system soooo much easier to use and hopefully this is something that could be easily added in the coming future. 1. The ability in app or browser to create masked email logins 2. The ability to change pre-existing login emails for masked ones when within an account settings page on a website 3. The ability to create multiple masked emails for multiple accounts on the same website 4. The ability to assign these masked emails under more than just 1 domain to allow for better organization (for cases where a person has multiple Fastmail domains) Now I understand that a lot of these "features" have a manual work-around by going into Fastmail and creating a masked email then adjusting all of the fields 1 by 1 but I was hoping when seeing the advertised feature that it would be more seamlessly connected with one another. With that also being said I have 300 some logins I have just moved over from Lastpass and although I love everything else about the app and how it functions, I am most definitely dreading switching over all of my logins manually 1 by 1.19Views1like2CommentsLimit access to collections
This may be a duplicate of this discussion but seeing that it is four years old, I decided to start a new discussion, I hope that is okay. Maybe the functionality also exists, but from what I found it seems to still be an open point: Upon connecting a new device (via scanning the QR code on my phone, but I suppose the login screen would look the same), I can decide whether to give full access or no access to the new device. It would be very convenient to be able to limit the access to predefined collections, and it seems like most functionality required for this is already there in some form: The login screen asking how much access to give, and the ability to only sync some vaults via travel mode. So this seems like a natural extension to add some convenience. The prototypical use case would presumably be a single account that is used for work and personal life, where work vaults should not necessarily be synced to all personal devices, and personal items have no reason to end up on work devices. In particular in freelancing work or in science, where the distinction between work and personal devices is often not as sharp as in some other areas, I'd imagine this would be a common situation. Another case where I would be nice to have are developer-related features, which may also include some logins to self-hosted services or whatever, that would only be required at home or on some dev machines and not every single device. I'd be happy to hear your thoughts on this, or some pointer if I missed something!11Views0likes0CommentsCentral “Shared Items Overview” Page for All Active Shares
Hi 1Password team, I’d love to suggest a new feature that would make managing shared items much easier: a central overview page that lists all currently shared passwords/items across my vaults. Right now, if I want to see what I’ve shared (and with whom), I have to check each item individually. With more and more items being shared—especially temporarily—it becomes hard to keep track. A dedicated “Shared Items” or “Shared Overview” page would: Show all passwords/items that are currently shared, regardless of which vault they’re in. Display who each item is shared with, including external shares via link. Allow me to revoke sharing quickly without opening each item manually. Work similarly to how OneDrive provides a “Shared” page where you can see what you’ve shared at a glance. This would bring a lot of clarity and improve security hygiene, especially for people who share items frequently or across multiple vaults. Thanks for considering this idea!13Views1like0Comments
