Hello 1Password Team, I’m writing on behalf of our organization, which uses 1Password Business. We find the default “Employee” vault name misleading for individual use, as many mistakenly assume it contains passwords for all employees. This confusion is even greater in the German translation where it appears as “Angestellte” making it unclear that this vault is for personal credentials. It would be far more intuitive if this built‑in vault could either be renamed freely or, at minimum, default to “Personal” as it does in Family and Individual plans. Proposed Improvement Clearer Naming: Changing “Employee” to “Personal” (or allowing custom names) eliminates ambiguity, especially in non‑English locales. Consistency: All other vaults in Business plans can be renamed; extending this to the default vault aligns with current functionality. Improved Usability: Allowing organizations to set a meaningful name (e.g., “Personal,” “Private,” “My Vault”) streamlines onboarding and vault management. I'm not quite sure if that was discussed before as i couldn't find that particular issue. The periodic reauthentication with the Master Password is a good and necessary feature — especially in professional or company environments where security must remain strict. However, it would be very helpful if the app could: Notify the user shortly before a reauthentication is required, and Allow postponing it, e.g. options like “Remind me in 10 minutes,” “in 1 hour,” or “in 1 day” This would make it easier to avoid being forced to type the password in stressful or inappropriate situations (e.g. when others are around or when in a hurry). This request is specifically about the Master Password reauthentication, not regular unlocks using Face ID or Touch ID.Solved114Views2likes7CommentsEditing file names and adding recovery codes
Hello, It would be great to be able to change the name of a file in-app (without having to download then upload the file to do it), it would be very useful for many people and would simplify things for us. Finally, the possibility of adding recovery codes, either via a section (hidden?), or something else. Personally, I always add my recovery codes to 1Password (a bit illogical because if I no longer have my logins, i.e. 1Password, I don't have my recovery codes either, but it allows me to centralize everything and also if I lose the other copy in the other place, I can always recover from 1Password). Hello, since 2024, when 1Password started looking into/considered an IPO, i have the feeling all development ressources were focused solely on growing the userbase and everything else was deprioritized. For example: The terraform provider didn't get any updates (e.g. Ephemeral Values) Simple improvements are deep in the backlog: Collapsible tags Displaying the user on the "last edited" line Improvements for managing vaults/users in an enterprise context are missing: Admins still can delete Owners Vaults can be deleted by any admin without "four-eye-principle" ... There is no way to export vaults encrypted Maybe some ressources could be assigned to improvements instead of new features... /rant over81Views1like1CommentResearch opportunity: Help shape the future of 1Password + gift card for your time

I come upon this more and more often... I have a shared vault where users A, B and C have access and I am the administrator/owner. I have another shared vault where users X, Y and Z have access and I am the administrator/owner. I have an item that I need to share with all 6 of these users. I currently have 2 choices and I don't like either of them: 1/ Create a new shared folder where users A, B, C, X, Y and Z have access. This is fine in the cases of small teams. My situation however is a medium-sized business account with all of my clients in my umbrella/envelope account. Users A, B and C are not even aware of the existence of users X, Y and Z and may be uncomfortable sharing items with unknown users. 2/ Duplicate my item and store one copy in each of the shared folders. I dislike this option even more as maintaining the integrity of both copies is risky; there is always the possibility that one copy gets modified and the other does not. Feature Request: I would like to be able to assign/associate 1 item in more than 1 shared vault. The members of shared vault ABC do not need to see or be aware that the item is also in vault XYZ and vice-versa. I am open to other ways of treating this problem/situation as well... In the latest version of 1pass for Firefox, if I click on a new tab, then click on my 1Pass extension, normally, I expect to be able to look through all my sites and choose open and fill. However, now, if I do this, no pages, links, passwords show up, even if I try searching for one, because it is looking for passwords for a blank page. It is really annoying. The only way to work around it is to select 1Pass while on another page. Can this be fixed?Solved48Views1like5CommentsPersonal Favorites on a Family Plan
Hi, I subscribe to the family plan, and it would be nicer (for me) if when I looked at my favorites I only saw mine, not my wife or kids. These are for our shared items in common vaults. I have several vaults: Myself Myself + wife Myself + wife + kid1 Myself + wife + kid2 Myself + wife + kid1 + kid2 It's those shared accounts (mostly with the kids). It's nice they can favorite their stuff, but I would rather not see it. I realize I might be using this unconventionally, but I have been a 1PW user for 15+ years, and my kids were infants when I first started some of their accounts. Can I make a feature request that would set the favorite for the vault on a per user basis ? So Kid1 can favorite web site x in the vault "Myself + wife + kid1", but it's not one of my favorites. Anyone else use 1PW this way ? I realize I could split apart all their stuff in their personal Kid1 vault, but when they call home and need help with web site x or whatever, it's nice that I can log in from my local machine and help out. ~Scott35Views1like1CommentFeature Request - Secure Vault
Dear 1Password Support Team, I’m a dedicated 1Password user and value its robust security features. However, I’d like to propose a new feature inspired by Microsoft OneDrive’s Personal Vault to enhance protection for critical, rarely accessed items in 1Password, balancing convenience for daily use with heightened security for sensitive data. I suggest implementing a Secure Vault feature within 1Password, where users can designate specific items or a dedicated vault as requiring multi-factor authentication (MFA) for access, even when the main vault is unlocked. Similar to OneDrive’s Personal Vault, which uses MFA (e.g., a push notification via the Microsoft Authenticator app, SMS code, or biometric verification) to unlock a protected folder, this Secure Vault would prompt for a one-time MFA verification—such as a push notification to a registered device, a code from an authenticator app, or an SMS—each carcass each time the user attempts to view or edit these items. Additionally, the Secure Vault could auto-lock after a short period of inactivity (e.g., 5–20 minutes, configurable by the user), requiring re-authentication for subsequent access, mirroring OneDrive’s automatic locking mechanism. This feature would allow users to keep day-to-day items (e.g., website logins) easily accessible during a session while ensuring sensitive data (e.g., banking credentials or legal documents) remains protected behind an additional authentication layer. For example, a user could tag items as “High Security” or move them to a Secure Vault, which would remain locked until MFA is completed, even if the main 1Password app is open. This would mitigate risks if a device is compromised or left unattended while unlocked. Key Aspects of the Proposed Feature MFA Integration: Support multiple MFA methods, such as push notifications to the 1Password mobile app, TOTP codes from authenticator apps, or SMS/email codes, to verify identity for Secure Vault access. One-Time Access: Each access attempt requires fresh MFA, preventing prolonged exposure of sensitive data. Auto-Lock: The Secure Vault locks automatically after a user-defined inactivity period, requiring MFA to reopen. User Flexibility: Allow users to choose which items or vaults require this extra protection, preserving convenience for less sensitive data. I believe this Secure Vault feature would appeal to users managing both routine and highly sensitive information, offering peace of mind for personal and professional use. If similar functionality is under consideration or if there are existing workarounds to achieve this, I’d appreciate any guidance. For inspiration, Microsoft’s OneDrive Personal Vault demonstrates how MFA and auto-locking can effectively secure a subset of cloud-stored data. Thank you for considering this request. I’m excited about the potential for 1Password to incorporate such a feature and would love to hear your thoughts or join the 1Password Community to discuss further.45Views1like1CommentVault and user permissions
I would like to see the 1Password manager work as follows: For a shared vault, I would like to see it work where whichever member of the shared vault added an item to the shared vault that they can make that item have permissions where the other members cannot move the item out of the shared vault. I know that the shared vault can have the permissions of all those that are shared in it to be set for 'Allow viewing' but then that would not allow them to create new items for the share (and I assume to not be allowed to move one of their items to the shared vault). I would like to see a shared vault be accessible by everyone who is allowed to see it, and in some cases, be able to edit some items but maybe not all the items. So having a vault wide permission does not satisfy this need, it needs to also have item permissions as well, at least when inside a shared vault. I am looking to be able to have the items have separate permissions from the vault so that whoever moves an item to the shared vault can make it viewable but not movable. I would like to see a shared vault act like every item in it is owned (controlled) by the user that moved it there. This would prevent an issue where if someone wanted to move an item that doesn't belong to them out of the shared vault and into their own private vault, effectively stealing the item from everyone else. So, in a sense, whoever moves an item into the vault would be the only one (besides the accounts admin) allowed to move it out of the shared vault. I cannot see any way to prevent this at this time unless I am missing something because as I stated, if I give a user view only permissions, they cannot add (move) items into the shared vault, correct?169Views1like1Comment
