Two accounts in browser extension

I have the 1password browser extension in chrome. I have a business account and a personal account. My autofill will only work for one account at a time. So if I go to a website I use for business but I'm logged into my personal account on the browser extension, I have to lock 1password and sign in under my business account for the right autofill to pull up. Is there a way to stay logged into both accounts in the browser extension?

  • Hi allarson1, adecker , and MattTheITGuy,

Based on the information you've all provided, it sounds as if you're running into a known issue at the moment. I've added your reports to the internal tracker for the issue. Our development team has released a fix, which is currently available in the nightly version of the app. It will be included in the production version in the near future. I apologise for the inconvenience this has caused.

In the meantime, we have two available workarounds:

    Workaround 1:

    1. Unlock both accounts on the desktop app.
    2. Open your browser and right-click on the 1Password extension icon in the browser toolbar.
    3. Select Settings.
    4. Toggle "Integrate this extension with the 1Password desktop app" off and back on.

    Workaround 2:

    1. In the desktop app's Settings menu, select Security.
    2. Enable biometric unlock.

If you have any further questions or concerns, let us know.

  • Hi adecker and MattTheITGuy,

To confirm, are you using the extension with both a business and personal account signed in as well, similar to allarson1 ?

Additionally, is the behaviour that you're all seeing that one of the two accounts is remaining fully locked, or are they both unlocked but you're only seeing autofill suggestions from one of them?

Exactly, I have a business and personal account.  In the Windows application both will be unlocked.  However, it's like a race to unlock in the browser extension, if one unlocks first that will the the one to show.  The autofill suggestions will only come from that account.  The other will not show anything, if you click on "All accounts" only the first one to unlock will show.

Like adecker said, if you click filter list the other account will be present but unchecked.  Checking the account will be unsuccessful.  The only workaround I've found is to lock the 1PW Windows app and then unlock it via Windows Hello, if both accounts unlock quickly enough they will both show.  If one for some reason delays notifying the browser extension then you're back to only showing from one of the two accounts.  I have about a 50-75% success rate of using this workaround.

I am having that same problem.

You login to one account (work). Then you have to go back in and click 'Filter List' to see the other account (personal). You can sign in to the personal account but when you click on the filter to show those accounts as well and click save, it doesn't work.

That was in chrome. I have gotten the extension to work properly in Firefox.

I have two 1password accounts - personal and business. If I’m logged into one of those accounts in the browser, then the other account remains fully locked and will not autofill passwords from the locked account. So for example, if I’m logged into personal, the extension works as expected for personal. But if I go to a website where I need a password from my business account, no autofill shows up. I have to lock my personal account and unlock my business account to get business passwords to autofill. If I go back to a site where I need a password from my personal account, nothing will autofill because I’m logged into my business account. So I have to lock my business account and unlock my personal account.

This has been by far, the most frustrating thing I have ever come across. It ruins any ease of use for a password manager. I log into 10+ sites a day, multiple different times in a day, and I have to now keep the desktop version open on a different screen, just to be able to use this software.

I have opened a support case, hopefully this will be fixed soon.  It is really breaking my workflow as well.  I have one vault I can autofill and one I have to drag and drop from the desktop version.

  • So it's not just me!  I was about to open a thread on this.  I'm seeing the exact same behavior.  It'll see the vault, but if you try to tell it to use both vaults it won't save the changes.  I tried reinstalling the extension twice, still does the same thing.
