1Password app login vs Account login
Hello - I just upgraded from 1Password7 to 1Password8. It seems that when I log into the application (Mac, iOS), I have to use my "account" password. Since I created a complex password and I keep it ...

Thanks for reaching out! Your account password is the secret that unlocks 1Password and it should be the "one password" that you memorize. You can use this guide to choose a memorable and secure account password:
To avoid having to enter your account password each time that you need to unlock 1Password, you can turn on Touch ID or Apple Watch unlock for 1Password on the Mac, or Touch ID/Face ID/PIN unlock for iOS:
- Use Touch ID to unlock 1Password on your Mac
- Use your Apple Watch to unlock 1Password on your Mac
- Use Touch ID to unlock 1Password on your iPhone or iPad
- Use Face ID to unlock 1Password on your iPhone or iPad Pro
- Use your device passcode, PIN, or pattern to unlock 1Password
I hope that helps!

RE: or Touch ID/Face ID/PIN unlock for iOS
I think the PIN unlock would do what I'm looking for (at least on iOS) but I can't seem to enable it. When I turn on "Allow unlocking with passcode" on iOS, it does not save the setting and it reverts back to "off" when I go back. I followed the steps outlined linked above (Touch ID is on) and I can turn on the passcode option in privacy, but it is not saved.
UPDATE: Works on iPhone but not on iPad

Thanks for the reply. It sounds like your iPad uses Touch ID, if that's the case then you’ll only be able to unlock with your passcode when Touch ID fails multiple times in a row. If you want 1Password to prompt you for your passcode by default, you’ll need to first turn off Touch ID entirely.
Alternatively, you can use Touch ID to unlock 1Password on your iPad.

You mean disable TouchID for the iPad entirely for the iPad? That's really disappointing if that is the case. I wish I could go back to 1Password7☹️

Thanks for the reply. iOS/iPadOS devices where Touch ID is enabled only support using a passcode to unlock 1Password when Touch ID fails multiple times in a row. To unlock 1Password using a passcode by default, Touch ID has to be disabled. This is a limitation of the implementation of Touch ID unlock.
That being said, why not use Touch ID to unlock 1Password on your iPad? If there a specific reason why you want to use your passcode instead?
