Assign one Tag to Multiple Items
Hi everyone. I'm a new user and started using 1Password because it has everything I need and I consider it a complete manager. I have a question about organizing tags: If I have many passwords that...

Yes, they're in the same vault. For example, I have a lot of passwords with the same tag. In the future, I decide to retag these passwords, so I have to swap the old tag for the new one, remove the old tag, and re-tag the new one. If I have to retag 100 passwords, doing it manually is difficult. I noticed that there's also a command prompt for 1password. Perhaps a script using the command prompt could do this?

20 days agoThanks for the reply. Do you need to swap the tag for every item that's currently tagged? If so then you might consider just renaming the tag. But that wouldn't work if there are other items that still need the old tag.
That being said, you could definitely use the command line to target all of the items in a vault in order to remove one tag and add another. You should be able to use the op item edit command to create a command/script to loop through a list of items in a vault and update their tag(s): 1Password - CLI (Item)
I hope that helps.

I've found a clever solution to move items to another tag with a little trick. I'll explain it to anyone who has the same problem:
1 Create a vault called "Temp" or whatever you prefer.
2 Select the tag containing the items to be moved from the left bar, such as "Test1" or any other tag you prefer.
3 Edit just one item you want to move and assign the new tag "Test2" by deleting the previous tag "Test1."
4 Drag all the items in the "Test1" tag you want to move to the "Test2" tag.
Now the items have two tags, "Test1" and "Test2," and we need to delete the previous tag "Test1" with a trick.5 Move all the items in the "Test2" tag to the "Temp" vault.
6 Select the "Temp" vault.
7 Select the "Test1" tag in the left bar and delete it (make sure it's the tag in the "Temp" vault).
8 Move the items back to the original vault, and now, as if by magic, you'll find all the items you wanted to move to the "Test2" tag without any other tags, but only with the tag you wanted.
I hope this trick is useful; although it's a bit cumbersome, it works well.
1Password is very comprehensive, and I've decided to use it. However, as far as tag organization goes, there's There's so much room for improvement.
I hope they can include this feature to move elements from one tag to another. This feature was requested years ago, but it hasn't been implemented yet, which is a shame.Sorry for any typos, but I'm Italian. Greetings from Turin :-)
