1Password automatically locks after a few seconds, even if the auto lock is set to 1 hour.

Hello folks,
Our development team has released improvements to how auto-lock works with certain configurations such as high-performance screen sharing on macOS. Please update to 1Password for Mac version 8.11.12 or later:
If you still see the same issue after updating then please let me know so that we can investigate further.-Dave

So this is incredibly strange... Just picked up a M4 Mac Mini with the latest Sequoia 15.5, and the latest 1password 8.10.78, and this issue persists. 1p unlocks fine while screen sharing using high performance, but within 10 seconds it'll have automatically locked itself again. i can use it just long enough to hopefully get a password copied to the clipboard... but this is a no-go for making edits or anything else with the app. This does not happen when screen sharing to a M1 Studio running Sonoma. That said, I've got a m1 macbook air running Sonoma (also prompts to unlock with apple watch or biometrics so it clearly does not understand that screen sharing is occurring), and was just able to reproduce this again? they're all on the same 8.10.78 app release.
side note, when the screen locks on the m4 mini (Sequoia), it also outright states 60 minutes have passed.
1Password locked after 60 minutes of inactivity.
on my m1 macbook air (Sonoma), i manually set this as 10 minutes, and the timeout occurs nearly instantaneously... i actually have to be very quick to do anything in the app, over screen sharing.
i set the auto-lock to 4 hours, and suddenly it doesn't seem to lock immediately. is that where this bug occurs? some type of math issue that speeds up the assumed inactivity time and just locks out the user over screen sharing?
Low and behold! i set auto-lock to 30 minutes, and almost instance get locked out again. so the band-aid solution for right now is to set the auto-lock to a longer timeout time.. e.g. 4 hours. I have no idea why this works, but it certainly makes things easier. Apparently anything less than 1 hour (i.e. minutes) somehow shortens to mere seconds.. and longer auto-lock times has less of an impact. At "1 hour" i still got auto-locked out (while being active in the app) within just a few minutes... i'm not sure how long the "4 hour" or higher settings will work before kicking someone. I guess the only viable long-term band-aid solution for now is to just set Auto-Lock to "never" and wait for 1P to fix their bug.
Two questions i now need answered re: Screen Sharing usage.
- Why does 1Password.app outright ignore user "activity" over screen sharing?
- Why does 1Password.app not properly calculate inactivity time set in Settings/Security/Auto-Lock over screen sharing?
1Password engineers... could you please test this and confirm?

my god thank you - this has helped me use High Performance mode - and not have 1password lock automatically after seconds! thank you!

Still affecting me too. Is this actually being worked on or is it backlogged? If the latter I may reach out to your executive team to have this looked at.

Thank you for trying the workaround, I'm sorry that it only works temporarily. I've shared your comments regarding the impact this issue continues to have on your workflow with our team.

Hi Dave,
The workaround sometimes works, then it stops working. Definitely nice to see it sometimes works, but it's still inconvenient when it stops working. High performance mode is really a must. If anyone actually tries using it, you can see it's much easier on the eyes. I consider it an accessibility feature and for that reason using standard mode isn't really acceptable. I hope this gets some attention instead of being a niche ask.
Thanks for the help.

[Go to community home](https://www.1password.community)Could you just share the info directly? this is a really frustrating experience with screen sharing.
FWIW, i'm on 1Password for Mac 8.10.70
Side note, your markdown integration seems kinda cool, but is a bit difficult when directly adding markdown. would be great if the forums offered an option to preview instead of assuming and entering unintended characters.

Been a year now, any updates on this? Will we ever see a fix?
