how to extend 1password time before locking out and having to sign in again

The option for preferences is at the very top of your monitor, by the  logo. Click 1Password and then Preferences will be an option in the resulting menu. Alternatively you can open it with a keyboard shortcut: Command+Comma ( ⌘, ).
