Safari extension stops unlocking and filling after updating to macOS 15.6

Thanks for looking to address this. I was initially hopeful it was now fixed - but I'm still having occasional issues where the password drop-down appears, but clicking on an entry fails to populate the field.

It doesn't seem to follow rhyme or reason why it fails - e.g. I can use 1P to autofill an login on one Synology NAS - but it then fails to autofill on another Synology NAS.

So far, restarting Safari appears to resolve the problem - until it doesn't.

Currently running macOS 15.6/Safari 18.6/1Password 8.11.4.

Thanks!

For anyone else looking at this: it so far appears that the problem was having some pinned tabs in my 'ungrouped' tabs in Safari. Since removing these, I have had no autofill failures in two days -  I would previously have expected a goodly number.

    Hello Dave:

Just happened again for me! This time with the web relay login pages that Synology provide for their NAS units (at https://quickconnect.to ): 1P did not autofill in a tab in the 'ungrouped' tabs in a Safari window, but immediately worked when I opened a new tab inside a Tab Group - just like earlier.

    Hello Dave:

Thanks for following up on this. My apologies for the delay -  I hadn't noticed that the message had been moved to a new thread!

The experience has definitely improved since the macOS 15.6 update - but I do find it is still not 100%...

    1. Does the issue occur on websites other than your NAS drive's page?
    2. (see below)
    3. The next time that the issue occurs, does opening the same page in a new tab resolve the issue in the new tab without restarting Safari?

Yes - for example, as I type, both the NAS login pages I was testing are working fine at the moment... but the login page at https://www.uaudio.com/account/login?return_url=%2Faccount is being strange: autofill wasn't working on a new tab I'd just opened - so I opened another new tab, and autofill isn't working there either. However I then opened a new tab in a different tab group inside Safari - and that one works fine!

    2. Which version of 1Password for Safari are you using?

    8.10.82.29

Thanks - please let me know if you need any further information!

  • Hello Moisie2000! 👋

I'm sorry that you're still seeing issues with autofill. I've split your post into a new thread so that we can keep reports from customers using macOS 15.6 or later in a dedicated thread. Can you tell me the following:

    1. Does the issue occur on websites other than your NAS drive's page?
    2. Which version of 1Password for Safari are you using?
    3. The next time that the issue occurs, does opening the same page in a new tab resolve the issue in the new tab without restarting Safari?

I look forward to hearing from you.
