Support for Zen browser
Hi!
There's this new browser called "Zen browser"
It's based on Firefox but the 1password extension doesn't work with the desktop app

Hello folks,
I'm happy to share that you can now add Zen Browser as an additional browser to 1Password for Windows. Follow these steps:
- Install 1Password in Zen Browser from the Firefox Browser Add-ons Store
- Add Zen Browser as an additional browser to 1Password: Connect additional browsers to the 1Password app
A couple of notes:- Make sure that Zen Browser is installed system-wide with admin permissions in the C:\Program Files folder.
- Zen Browser is not an officially supported browser and you might run into unexpected issues. If you see those same issues with a supported browser like Firefox then let us know by starting a new discussion and we can investigate.

Waiting for several months now to add Zen Browser support.

Thanks for the request! There aren't any plans currently to support Zen Browser directly but our team is working on bringing additional browser support to Windows so that you can add whichever browser you'd like (including Zen Browser) to 1Password.

is there a timeline on when this can be enabled for windows since this functionality is already in mac for adding any browser of my preference?

+1 from me as well.
I also find it very frustrating that my favorite password manager, which I have been using for years, does not support the Zen Browser.
When I was using Arc, it wasn’t a problem — but since I switched to Zen, it is.I saw in the forum that adding additional browsers is currently only available for Mac and Linux, and that supporting browsers individually isn’t sustainable.
What’s the current progress on bringing this feature to Windows?- 1P_Dave

Welcome to the community! Our team is working on bringing the additional browsers feature to Windows, I don't have a timeline to share just yet but keep an eye on this thread. 🙂

It has been years already and how this feature is not present is baffling

1Password Team:
You support Arc, a discontinued browser, but do not support Zen...?!
Be aware that many former Arc users are moving to Zen, as you probably already noticed in this thread...- 1P_Dave

Thank you for the feedback! Are you using 1Password on a Windows PC or on another platform? I noticed that you mentioned Linux and Mac in other posts, you can add Zen Browser to 1Password on those platforms using this guide: Connect additional browsers to the 1Password app

+1 for Zen Browser. Seems the other Zen threads were locked and posts got deleted after someone reported that Comet was custom added to the latest windows nightly build, going against the idea that the old vetting process has been retired.

One more +1 for this feature. I use Zen on Windows every day at work since it's Firefox based.
Reading the "solution" at the top is really confusing since it's restricted to Mac - and reading about support for Comet having been added to the nightly build is even more confusing. This should be highly prioritized, 1P_Dave. Thanks!

+1 for the feature implementation on Windows like on MacOS.
Is there a beta branch or something available where we can test this feature? It's really frustrating for a user on both MacOS and Windows to have different workflows on each system.
cheers!- 1P_Dave

Thank you for the request, I've shared it with the team. It's not currently possible to add unsupported browsers to 1Password for Windows using either the production or beta version, it's a feature that still has to be built by our development team.

1P_Dave If this is a 'yet to be developed' feature, which it sounds like it is, then 1Password should continue to support the old 'manual' vetting process for browsers until you are able to provide another solution. Currently your Windows-based customers have no solution to this problem.

We're not currently adding new supported browsers since that isn't a long-term and sustainable solution.
I just want to point out that, despite 1Password saying that they don't, they still do add new browsers. They just added support for the Comet Browser in the latest nightly build.
Don't get me wrong, I'm currently using Comet, and it's great to have this feature working with it now, so I'm not complaining about that. But, you are clearly not bringing the Custom Trusted Browsers feature to Windows anytime soon, so why not whitelist Zen as well in the meantime? It has over 35k+ stars on GitHub and, as we can see here in this thread, there is demand. It's open-source and based on Firefox. I just don't get it.
It's sad because despite loving 1Password otherwise, I'm starting to consider leaving it behind because of this. I don't know of any other popular password managers that do this. I pay good money and want to use the browser extension to it's fullest with the browser of my choice, without buying a Mac or switching to Linux.

With our direct browser whitelisting process, we couldn’t support all requested browsers (like Zen Browser), which is why we’re building a new way for people to connect whichever browser they want across platforms: Connect additional browsers to the 1Password app
I hope this helps clarify that support for additional browsers is being developed to address a previous limitation with the older process. We hope to share more news about Windows in the future.

I'm sorry, but how does that help? Both features aren't there anyway

Comet probably works because it's Chromium based. It seems that most Chromium based browsers inherit the trusted browser status. That could be due to Chromium browsers not being actual forks of Chromium, it's just layered on top. Firefox derivatives are actual forks, you can modify them however you want, thus losing the trusted status.
I don't do browser dev so all I said could be ridiculously incorrect.

Thanks for pointing out that they are supporting Comet on the nightly build of the extension. I'm running it now and it's working well.

+1 for me too. With Arc discontinued I am starting to move over to Zen Browser. I don't want to have to sign in twice. I don't understand why with Arc discontinued the 1Password team would support it but not Zen, especially given Zen is built on Firefox.
This is the kind of thing that will make me look elsewhere when my 1Password subscription is up.
