TouchID not working on Macbook Pro M3

I'm going to close this conversation to prevent duplication of efforts.

I don't use ICloud - atleast not intentionally I think.

No TouchID is still not working for me unfortunately, I am back to the same issue

You likely use iCloud. I do and it produces that behavior which is more of a feature.

Encrypted copies of your Secret Key are stored in your device backups and keychains to provide data loss protection. If you have iCloud Drive enabled and lose your Mac, iPhone, or iPad, you can restore from a backup and unlock 1Password with just your Password.

There should be no need to start again, assuming of course Touch ID is working for you.

Thank you so much for such detailed steps, I went through the steps (the file was empty so I proceeded with resetting the data file) and I still have the same issue

1. It went through the set up again like you said but it knew my accounts ( I have a family account as well) and asked me to sign through those - but to be sure I I said I had a different account and went through the QR code scanning from my phone to set it up)
2. It correlated back to the same IDs I had before - asked me if I want to enable Touch ID and it was enabled
3. After I logged in and hit lock it prompted me for finger print but after I placed my finger it went back to the same message and asked me to type the password ( touch id didn't work)

I am wondering since it knew my past accounts that I had set up before is it possible it still has the data somewhere - Even when I uninstalled 1Password and cleared a bunch of files yesterday ( https://support.1password.com/uninstall-1password/) it still recognized my old accounts

Just thinking aloud - trying to see if we should start clean with no trace of the software somehow and try again

1. Open 1Password.
2. Press Command and Comma (Control and Comma on Windows). The 1Password Preferences/Settings will open.
3. Select Advanced.
4. Select Send Diagnostics.
5. Select Reveal to locate the report in your Downloads folder.

I am having the exact same problem on a brand new iMac M3.

OS Version: Sonoma 14.5
1Password for Mac 8.10.36

Tried:
(1) Shutting down Mac completely. Turning it back on
(2) Confirmed that TouchID works to log into Mac system
(3) Went to System Settings > Touch ID and deselected every option before turning all back on
(4) Went to 1Password Security options and turned TouchID off and then back on

Nothing works. Please fix this bug!
