v8 on macOS (Sequoia 15.7.3) Autofill not working

I have double-checked the instructions and uninstalled / reinstalled both 1Password and the 1Password for Safari apps, but the autofill functionality is mostly non-functional. I'm on an iMac Pro so cannot upgrade to Tahoe.

  1. Uninstalled 1Password following the detailed instructions (removed the Library, Preferences, application, etc).
  2. Reinstalled 1Password 8.
  3. Removed and reinstalled 1Password for Safari.
  4. Rebooted after each step.
  5. Enabled 1Password in Settings -  Privacy & Security - Accessibility (not just Settings - Accessibility).
  6. Checked Settings - Privacy & Security - Automation, and 1Password is not present even after enabling 1Password Settings -  Developer for both SSH and CLI.
  7. Checked Settings - General - Autofill & Passwords. It's enabled and the native Passwords application is disabled, but 1Password is not shown anywhere in that settings page.

In Safari, it just does not work. I can click the plugin in the toolbar and it opens a list of possible logins but selecting any and the "autofill" option just does nothing. Clicking into the login fields (either username or password) shows and does nothing.

It's basically as if the autofill functionality doesn't even exist.

  • Hello focher, jsinglestein, and CooperBlack! 👋

I'm sorry that you're running into issues with 1Password for Safari on macOS 15.7.3. I've tested autofill on macOS 15.7.3 using 1Password for Safari version 8.11.29 and autofill is working on my end. Could you tell me the following:

    1. If you update 1Password to Safari to 8.11.29 and then try to autofill again then does autofill work? Or do you see the same issue?
    2. Can you double-check that autofill is turned on: Right-click on the 1Password icon in Safari's toolbar > Settings > Autofill & save > Are all of the options here turned on?
    3. When you click into a username or password field on autofill.me then do you see 1Password's icon in the field:

I look forward to hearing from you.

I see this as well. On the PNC site which worked correctly in V7 now requires the Shift/Command/Space bar trick to get 1P to even acknowledge the site.

In general, after a month of using V8 after years of using 1P, I think V7 worked more smoothly. And I went back to V7 on iOS.
