4 years agoWindows 10 error "Unable to complete installation"
New corporate laptop with Windows 10 on it. Trying to install 1Password 8 and get error dialog saying it couldn't complete installation and was rolling back changes. Where can I find log which will tell me what it failed?

Hi @carlosvs:
These are generally unique to your specific Windows configuration and setup, so we'd likely need to take a closer look at your specific setup if you're running into trouble installing 1Password.
The install logs for 1Password can be found here by pasting this address into the File Explorer address bar:
%localappdata%\1Password\logs\setup.Attach the relevant log file to an email addressed to
support+forum@1password.com. Include a link to this thread:https://1password.community/discussion/127207/windows-10-error-unable-to-complete-installation#latest, and your username:carlosvs. After emailing in, you'll receive a support ID that looks something like [#ABC-12345-678]. Post that here, and I'll be able to connect your post with your email conversation and figure out what could be going on. Thanks! - Former Member

I'm having the same issue on my Windows 11 laptop. It gives me the (paraphrased) "Can't complete installation, and will now roll back" though this is the first time I've tried (just joined).
Email sent as suggested above.

Hi @beeker, I appreciate the update and happy to hear all is working again!
Due to the timing of your initial comment and our recent updates to 1Password 8 for Windows, you may have seen some interference with AV software. Moving forward, you can try excluding the entire 1Password directory and the
1Password.exein any security software you have running as this may help in the future. The 1Password directory can be found here -%localappdata%\1Passwordand the1Password.exeis here:%localappdata%\1Password\App\8.Have a great day!

no, all working again now - not quite sure what changed as I'd shut down/restarted a few times. Tried it the next morning and it installed just fine. Smoking gun given some of the other comments may well be McAfee.

Hello @beeker, thanks for your response here. I'm sorry for the delay and issues you've been experiencing.
I'm happy to hear that things are working for you in the browser, but can please let us know if you are still having troubles with the reinstallation of the latest
Productionbuild of 1Password 8 and if so, what type of error message are you receiving? Does restarting Windows in Safe Mode with Networking Enabled and then trying to reinstall 1Password help with this behaviour?Looking forward to your reply.

Damn, I'm getting a similar issue now failing to update to latest build. uninstalled but now fails every attempt. (I have browser access, but am used to working in the app)
