Unexpected Error signing in via modal, but not page

In an incognito window, clicking Sign in on the home page opens a Sign In modal. Filling Username and Password then clicking (Sign In) consistently results in the error,

⚠️ Unexpected Error
Please try refreshing the page and submitting again.

From the Sign In page, the process consistently works normally.

    Hi again, AJCxZ0,

In talking it over with the team, they asked if you could email community@1password.com, since the investigation might require sharing some technical information you wouldn't want in a public community. We appreciate your help and will get to the bottom of this!

      Emailed yesterday.

Today I saw that my active session which I used to post yesterday was no longer logged in. Clicking Sign in opened the modal, which produced the usual error. Opening the Sign In page and autofilling also repeatedly produced the same error - even after forcing a reload, clearing stored data and testing in Incognito. While trying debug the process in Devtools, the sign in process appeared to complete.

I've reproduced this in an Incognito session.

This behaviour is consistently repeatable, unchanged when credentials are manually filled.

I just reloaded that Incognito tab and\ successfully signed in, after not touching it since my previous post nine (9) minutes ago.

Immediately logging out, then trying to log in produced the error, which was then repeatable. This may be a broken protection mechanism intended to limit brute-forcing accounts.

    Hi AJCxZ0,

Thanks for reporting this! Could I trouble you to try signing in via the modal again to see if it's still giving you that error? We made some changes that might have solved the issue. If the modal is still giving you that error, though, we'll absolutely investigate further.

I just reproduced the behaviour exactly as reported.
As a bonus, I reproduced it in a Firefox Private window.

Thank you, AJCxZ0! I'll get this to the right people to investigate and will report back as soon as I can.
