1Password account switch depending on Chrome profile.

I cannot log in, becouse a coworkers 1password is being pushed even when logged into the browser, as you can see (we have different Chrome profiles). Please help - and she is getting an error when she wants to log in, and tries to fix this, that somebody else is already logged into this computer, even if I sign out!

  • Hello Tina! 👋

I’m sorry you’re having trouble signing in to 1Password. Just to confirm — are you and your coworker using the same Windows PC but different Chrome profiles? If so, the best solution is to create a separate Windows user profile so your files and app activity stay completely separate: Manage User Accounts in Windows.

If that’s not possible and you’d prefer to keep using separate Chrome profiles, there is a workaround. Since your coworker is signed in to the 1Password desktop app, the browser extension is currently connected to that app, which signs them in across all Chrome profiles. You can disconnect the 1Password extension from the desktop app in your Chrome profile only, allowing you to sign in independently there. Follow these steps in your Chrome profile:

    1. Make sure that both you and your co-worker are signed into 1Password on other devices to avoid being locked out.
    2. Open your profile in Chrome.
    3. Right-click on the 1Password icon in your browser's toolbar and click Settings.
    4. Turn off "Integrate this extension with the 1Password desktop app".
    5. Click on Accounts & vaults in the sidebar.
    6. Sign out of your co-worker's 1Password account on this page.
    7. Sign in to your account.

Let me know if that allows you to sign into your 1Password account in your Chrome profile.
