Account recovery fails despite having Secret Key and Recovery Code (password forgotten)

Hi,

I’m locked out of my 1Password account and need help determining my recovery options.

My situation:
- I DO have my Secret Key
- I DO have my Recovery Code
- I DO have my Emergency Kit
- I do NOT have my account password anymore (it was changed and not written down)

What happens:
- Signing in with email + Secret Key + password fails (password is incorrect)
- Attempting account recovery using the Recovery Code also fails

Exact error shown during recovery:
“Recent attempt was cancelled.”

Additional details:
- The recovery code has never been used before
- Correct account and email are confirmed
- Tried multiple browsers and devices
- I can still access my vault locally on Android using biometric unlock, but:
  - it regularly asks for the account password
  - the vault no longer syncs or updates

Can support confirm whether recovery is still possible in this situation, or advise on the correct next steps if it is not?

    I'm sorry that you're unable to access your 1Password account. If you still have access to 1Password on your Android device then search for a 1Password Account item in your vault. You may see your 1Password account password there. 

    If that doesn't work, and you don't remember your account password, then try the suggestions in this article: If you forgot your 1Password account password or you can’t unlock the app

    If you still can't remember your account password then you'll need to either use your recovery code or have a family organizer recover your account for you (if you're using 1Password Families). Since you have a recovery code you should be able to use the recovery code to recover your account: Generate and use recovery codes

    Exact error shown during recovery:
    “Recent attempt was cancelled.”

    1Password will automatically abort recovery attempts in certain situations:

    • If you’ve recently signed in to your account
    • If you’ve entered your identity verification code incorrectly too many times
    • If you’ve started a recovery attempt and then signed in to your account


    If you're in one of these situations then try waiting a day without attempting to sign into your 1Password account or using your recovery code. Then try to recover your account using your recovery code again.
