Thanks for following up! The feature request is still open with our product team but it hasn't yet bubbled up as a feature to be built for 1Password 8. I'll let the team know that you'd still like to see it added to the current version of 1Password and I'll share the experience of you and your family.
Out of curiosity, how often do you and your family add custom icons to items in 1Password? Are you adding them to a specific type of item? When it comes to Login items, 1Password will provide a rich icon automatically for most websites.
As a consequence I had to uninstall everyones version 8 and reinstall versions 7.
I don't recommend that your family uses 1Password 7 anymore. 1Password 7 hasn't been updated for years and our team no longer tests it with current versions of iOS and macOS. Since 1Password stores the most important information in our lives, it's important to always use the latest version to remain protected.

Dear Dave,
I am writing again as a follow-up to my original message regarding custom icons. Members of my family are still having to use 1Password version 7, as it still allows the copy and paste of icons - version 8, still does not allow this. Rich icons automatically being provided by 1Password are not a reliable means by which 'icons' can be attributed. Many websites do not provide the necessary icon files.
I am somewhat disappointed that 1Password have still not addressed this very basic issue that was removed when updating to version 8? I originally posted a question about this just over 5 years ago - that's 5 YEARS AGO.
My original post explained the importance of the visual icon to individuals who had learning disabilities. Is it the case that 1Password, as a company, doesn't recogise 'invisible disabilities' and as such marginalize a whole segment of society and hence some of their customers.
