Endless Loop mode

I used Safari to log in to my eu account. However, I am not logged in any of Safari session at the moment.

Now, when I try to login to Safari or 1password application I keep getting the screen where it asks to get Transfer request Verification code.

Browser shows me this :

Application shows me this :

I have tried other browsers - Firefox and Chrome as well, none of them work. Anywhere I try to login it asks me to enter this - Transfer request Verification code.

I have tried to clear cookies in each browser, but its the same, no luck so far.

Is there a way to bypass this and login ?

Safari Version 18.3.1
MAC OS 15.3.2

  • Hello bhaktimotiwala! 👋

I'm sorry that you're running into issues when signing in. It sounds like you're not signed into your 1Password account in any browser or app. You need to be already signed into a browser or app in order to approve the request to sign into a new browser or app.

I recommend reaching out to your IT team so that they can help you recover access to your 1Password account: Recover accounts for family or team members

Let me know if I misunderstood the issue or if you run into any issues with the recovery.

I have seen this behavior recently as well - on Windows - when setting up my new laptop.  On the plus side - the scan qr code feature made setup on a new machine so much easier.  But then I saw this issue creep up.  I suspect that while setup of the desktop app is easier because of the qr code feature - we have to remember that each browser we setup is yet another "device" of sorts.  And that some additional authentication is needed to validate Edge or Chrome or Safari.  I haven't figured it out yet - but I suspect that's where the answer lies.

Thanks for the post! It's normal to see a "Transfer your encryption key" message when you're adding 1Password to the 1Password app on a new device, or to 1Password in a new browser. The encryption key needs to be transferred from an existing device where you're using 1Password so that your items can be decrypted and viewed on the new device or browser.
