How to use a Passkey outside of a web browser?
I’m considering using 1Password for passkeys but I don’t understand how to use it outside a web browser?
on my phone 1Password shows up even in apps, but it doesn’t seem to on my Mac?
Thanks for the reply. That's correct, there isn't currently a way to use a passkey saved in 1Password to sign into a desktop app on macOS without using 1Password on your mobile device.
That being said, I've filed feedback with our product team on your behalf that you'd like to see such a feature be added in the future. 🙂

Hello ezfe! 👋
Thanks for the question! You can use 1Password on your iPhone to sign into a desktop app on your Mac using a passkey.
When signing in to a desktop app on your Mac you'll see a prompt that includes an option to sign in using a "iPhone, iPad or Android device", choose that option and you'll see a QR code appear on your screen. Scan that QR using the camera app on your iPhone and then follow the prompts to sign in using your saved passkey in 1Password.
I hope that helps!

Yes, I am aware I can use my phone.
I just want to confirm there’s no way to do it directly, like I would with the Passwords app or Microsoft Entra passkeys?
Using my phone adds an extra step of getting out my phone, scanning, and waiting for the Bluetooth to connect. I don’t understand why this is so complicated?
Regardless, thank you for confirming there’s no option to use it directly from 1Password on device.
