Incorrect(?) error message: The one-time password url is incorrect: check the url and try again.

I enabled 2FA on my account on tesla.com. I scanned the QR code and saved the OTP url on my Mac using the 1Password 7 app. There, everything works as expected.

However, on my iPhone using iPassword 8, a warning message is displayed instead of the prominent OTP field: "The one-time password url is incorrect: check the url and try again.". Instead, the OTP field is placed in the section below, but code is generated correctly.

The URL seems to be fine: otpauth://totp/Tesla:?secret=&issuer=Tesla&digits=6&period=30

I tried removing the query parameters (resulting in otpauth://totp/Tesla:?secret=), and I tried url-escaping the colon and @ character in the email, but both changes have no effect on the error message.

This behavior seems weird to me. Is it a bug?

    I've had my fair share of those oddities and old logins from years back where I had trouble for some odd reason. Recreating them typically solves my trouble. Looking at you Chase bank lol.

    Enjoy the Tesla, and I'm happy to hear you have 2FA on your account working.

    Hi Tommy, thanks for your reply.

    I tried deleting and recreating just the TOTP field, but the error stays the same:
    - 1Password 7 for Mac, the TOTP code is not "sandwiched" with username and passwort at the top (but no error message),
    - 1Password 8 for iPhone the TOTP code is not "sandwiched" with username and passwort at the top, and displays the mentioned error message.
    Both show the code anyway. There are 2 additional hidden form fields saved with the login ("email" and "confirm-password").

    FWIW, I just created a new login from scratch and everything works es expected. I guess I ran into some bug during creation of the login entry.

    If you want to look into this any further, I'll gladly provide more info as needed. Otherwise I would consider this as resolved.

    Not that I've seen. I've helped several others setup their codes for Tesla. In your 1Password entry how many TOTP fields do you see? Please check the phone as that seems to be where the trouble is. Is the TOTP field in your entry just below the password field of further down? Which version of 1Password are you using on the phone?
