Login & Autofill Issues: Wrong Credentials Suggested and Cluttered Dropdown
I'm writing to request assistance with several frustrating issues I'm experiencing with my 1Password account. I've tried to troubleshoot them myself, but have been unsuccessful in resolving the problems.
The main issues are:
- Incorrect Credentials for Specific Sites: When I try to log in to certain websites (a primary example is Reddit), 1Password suggests and autofills a set of credentials that are now incorrect. Even after I manually change the password on the website and choose "Update" in 1Password, the problem persists. When I attempt to log in, the site rejects the credentials filled by 1Password.
- Cluttered and Inaccurate Inline Dropdown Menu: On login pages for services like Gmail, the inline dropdown menu shows a long list of suggestions. This list includes all of my various Gmail accounts (which is expected) but also contains logins for completely unrelated websites, making it challenging to select the correct account quickly.
Here is what I have already tried to resolve this:
- I have opened the main 1Password application and searched for the affected logins (e.g., "Reddit").
- I have verified and updated the website URLs for these logins to ensure they are correct (e.g., https://www.reddit.com).
- I have ensured that I am using the latest version of the 1Password browser extension and desktop application.
I need to have this fixed, but it's excruciating to wait a day to hear back from support. Is there a way to pay for support so I can get my work done? Do I have to purchase a business account instead of a personal one, even though I am using it personally?
I don't know about anyone else, but email support misses something personal
Thanks

Hi juanie32,
I'm sorry 1Password is causing so much trouble for you! I completely understand your frustration – when a password manager doesn't behave as expected, it can definitely slow things down. I want to assure you that we're here to help get this sorted out for you.
I appreciate you sharing what you've already done to troubleshoot this. Based on what you've described, it sounds like we're dealing with two common but solvable issues: duplicate login items and overly broad URL matching.Incorrect credentials for specific sites
This issue often happens when an "Update" action creates a new Login item instead of updating the original one. You then end up with two or more items for the same site and 1Password might be suggesting the old one first. If you go into the 1Password desktop application and search for "Reddit," are there more entries there than you expect?
If so, click on each one to view its details. The key is to find the correct, most recent one to keep. The easiest way to do this is to check the Last edited field at the bottom of the item's details. The one with the most recent Last edited date is the one you want to keep and you can archive the rest.Cluttered and inaccurate inline dropdown menu
This often happens when 1Password finds other Login items in your vault that have a "website" field that could match the current page. For example, you might have a login for a third-party service that uses Google for authentication, and you saved google.com as the URL instead of the service's specific URL.
Could you check the Login items for those sites showing up when you're logging into Gmail to see what url they're associated with? That will let us know if this is the issue or if it's something else.
I appreciate you sticking with us and we'll do our best to get your 1Password experience where it should be.
