Fingerprint won't open 1password on Xiaomi 15 ultra

Hello, New in this community, but one year user of 1password.

After moving from a OnePlus to a new Xiaomi 15 ultra (global edition ), I can't open 1password with fingerprint . It appears once, but is never recognised , then it fallback to the password . Further attemps will not present the fingerprint options, unless I deselect and reselect it again in settings . It works as it should with the device pin, which is unsecure , and with the main password , which is annoying because it's time consuming .

I'll add that fingerprint is working to unlock the device , and with any other applications accepting fingerprint .

I saw a quite similar discussion in the forum , but it was not related to Xiaomi 15 ultra . I understand that the issue was related to an updated driver.

Thanks for any advice .

  • Hi Dave, thanks for your reply . It appears that I have just resolved the issue a few hours ago: I have uninstalled 1password and reinstalled again , and now fingerprint is working as it should. So it seems something was wrong when I transferred my settings from my old OnePlus to the Xiaomi . Thanks again .

Same issue for me with my Xiaomi 15 Ultra, reinstalling the app was helping fixing it before but not anymore... So I can't use fingerprint unlock at all for 1Password anymore.

      Hi Bartido,

Thanks for reporting this. Can you share which version of 1Password you're running and which version of Android? Could you also try re-installing one more time to see if it helps? That will typically help for the short-term, but I want to report it if that's no longer the case.

I'm sorry for the trouble on this and appreciate your patience. We have engineers actively investigating this.

Another message to let you know that I just tried to delete cache, then All Data, and uninstall the app to fully reinstall it.

Logged in using QR code, activated fingerprint unlock, restarted the app, typed the master password one time and restarted the app again.

Then I saw the fingerprint unlock but after trying it just got "That didn't work. Please try again.".

    Hi everyone,

I'm having an issue with fingerprint unlock for 1Password on my Xiaomi 15 Ultra.

I'm not entirely sure, but I believe the problem started around the time I updated my device's firmware.

I've already tried reinstalling the app and have also read through a similar thread (https://www.1password.community/discussions/1password/fingerprint-wont-open-1password-on-xiaomi-15-ultra/156780), but unfortunately, the issue hasn't been resolved.

Has anyone else experienced this or have any suggestions? I'd be happy to provide a diagnostics report or any other necessary information if a member of the support team sees this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi readabi1ity, thanks for writing in. I'm sorry to hear biometric unlocking isn't working on your Xiaomi. I've just moved your post in with this thread as they appear to pertain to the same topic.

If you haven't recently, please check for any device updates on your Xiaomi, then restart your device.

If you're still seeing issues, I'd like to ask you to clear your 1Password app data. Prior to doing so, please ensure you have your current account password and Secret Key available outside of 1Password for Android, and that you can find your saved data on the 1Password website, or another 1Password app. These steps will clear the 1Password app data from your device, so it will be helpful to have your Setup Code available

      1. Ensure you have your current account password and Secret Key available outside of 1Password for Android, and that you can sign into 1Password on our website or another device.
      2. Open the settings app on your Android device.
      3. Select Apps > 1Password.
      4. Select Storage and cache (setting name may vary by device).
      5. Tap Clear Storage or Clear Data (clearing cache is insufficient here).
      6. Reinstall 1Password for Android, sign into your account, then turn Biometric unlock on.

Let us know how that goes and thanks again.

        Hi 1P_Timothy ,

Thank you for your reply and for moving my post. I created a new one as I thought this original thread was closed.

I'm happy to report that after following the steps you provided, biometric unlock is working correctly now. I'm a bit surprised, as I had tried clearing the storage and reinstalling in the past without success, but I'm glad it's resolved this time.

If the issue occurs again, I will post an update here.
        Thanks again for your help!

  • Ok will do

It's strange it's worked all day and now I've got home it's not working again. I've turned VPN on and off, WiFi on and off, mobile data on and off as well as reset it but it's just started again.

I can't see why location would be causing the issue?

  • Hi there

I have the exact same issue but with a slightly different phone (Xiaomi 15 - Global) but I've uninstalled 1password multiple times and cleared the cache and I'm still getting the same issue.

Is there any sign of a resolution?

    Thanks
